Scott Cockburn...

NMS

HR Systems Supervisor, 2004 - 2006

Having been made redundant by Scottish Life, Scott had a brief break before joining National Museums of Scotland (NMS) two months later.

The organisation had just purchased its' first ever HR System and he was solely tasked with completing the post-implementation as well as developing an online recruitment module and the provision of MI and Training.

The role proved to be extremely challenging as NMS was simply not geared to use systems and as such Scott was called upon to 'firefight' both internal and external support issues throughout as well as challenging the non-system culture surrounding his role.

Nonetheless, he proved a success in the role and had the system fully rolled-out and supported as well as the online recruitment module built when he opted to leave and join Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre (ESPC)

Key Achievements included:

  • Enhanced development of NMS’ first-ever HR System (Workforce) with particular focus on online recruitment

  • Management of ongoing problems in the relationship between NMS and their software supplier resulting in restructured IT support and improved cost management

  • Successful implementation of new ‘culture’ and attitude within key areas of the organisation, using skills and experience to maximise usage and promote the benefits of an HR system resulting in an increased system profile to key stakeholders
